15 minutes long, here is the second part of "samian dreamscapes", a small series of videos about the natural beauty of the manyfold landscapes on this water-rich greek east aegean island.
This time I included longer sequences showing material I recorded in the valleys of the brooks Potami and Imvrassos.
And, like shown at the end of the video, don't forget to visit one or more of the festivals in Summer, or one of the many panigiria taking place in the villages all over Samos.
Most of the video material was recorded during springtime on Samos. (months of May and June, 2010 and 2011). In May 2011, the island was especially green, nature was very late then, three weeks behind "schedule", due to low temperatures in April.
Did you miss "samian dreamscapes, part 1"? No problem, here is the link to the video!

Captain Antonis
Captain Antonis/Adonis is one of the captains in the picturesque harbour of Pythagorion. He has a very beautiful boat called Chryso T.
And he likes to sing and play the bouzouki! If he is not on his boat, you might find him in the tavern just opposite to his boat.
You will find his and the other captains boats when you walk down the main street to the harbour of Pythagorion and then turn to the right (boats in the following order: captains Jiannis, Gerasimos, Vasilis, Andreas and Adonis).
The captains offer daily cruises (or shuttle service) with their boats to beaches e.g. on Samiopoula, at Kerveli, Psili Ammos (east), Tsopela Bay and Kakorema bay. A day with one of these captains on the sea going to a remote beach, for sure this is a special adventure to be undertaken!

Village square in Vourliotes
A visit to the lovely village square (platia) in Vourliotes on an early evening in May.
Vourliotes is located on the slopes of the Ambelos mountain range, high above the north coast of the island.

"Always" Pythagorion
A sunny morning in early May in the harbour of Pythagorion.
A couple of impressions from a relaxed walk - with many stops to enjoy the picturesque views - through parts of the harbour on a beautiful early morning with clear blue skies.
Video clips taken on May 8th, 2011.
Song "Always" by dutch singer/songwriter Ad Vanderveen.
Played and sung by Ad Vanderveen together with Kersten de Ligny and Dimos Kasapidis, in a spontaneous acoustic guitar session after a nice meal we had together in a tavern on Balos beach, Samos. (July 2010)

Samian dreamscapes / dreamscapes on Samos, part 1
Three years ago I thought about a series of videos showing the different landscapes of Samos island in HD quality. Not so much a video about the usual places (villages, beaches) where most of the tourists will go to, but places, that in my opinion, make Samos special for me.
In 2009/2010, excellent HD video camcorder equipment became affordable, so time was right for me to venture into the area of HD videos.
Since 1999, I have been on Samos many times, so I already had been to many beautiful spots taking photos. Now, equipped with cameras, camcorders, audio field recording eqipment and a tripod, I spent a lot of time driving around the island on a motorscooter to reach all those places I wanted to take videos of. Most of the video material was recorded during springtime on Samos. (months of May and June, 2010 and 2011).
So, 11 minutes long, here is the first part of a small series of videos about the natural beauty of the manyfold landscapes on this water-rich greek east aegean island.
And - like Ivan from Slowakia does right in the beginning of this video - jump and enjoy diving into the Samos experience!
Here is the link to the same video on YouTube!
Support the local people in Greece, e.g. on Samos island, during these hard times!
So please don't confuse watching a video about Samos with being yourself on Samos! ;-) Come and visit this year the beautiful east aegean island of Samos in Greece for a holiday!
Please, don't step in the footsteps of others! Take your time, try the new, find your own ways on Samos and discover your own dreamscapes there!
